IN 2020, we saw the Star Feminine Band land with a first album written by André Balaguemon, and played by seven musicians from Benin. The following year, after many administrative adventures, they performed on stage in France. The youngest was 12, the oldest had just turned 18. As long as you do, you might as well record an album! The result, released in September, enchants us: Fulani or waama rhythms mingle with more pop sounds, without forgetting the feminist message that these young girls with strong personalities want to convey, as in "Le Mariage forced", "Les Filles à school" or "Excision". On the English-language "Woman Stand Up", these ambassadors invested with Unicef call for sisterhood and perseverance in the face of a society still subject to patriarchal goodwill and which gives little or no chance to the professionalization of young people. women.
